Beginning another 100 years: flexibly responding to change
We at Nomura Trading Co., Ltd. celebrated the 100th anniversary of our establishment on May 7, 2017. This would not be possible without the support by our valuable stakeholders and our business partners in Japan and overseas, to whom we sincerely appreciate.
Our long history has been built through collaboration between our current generation of employees and predecessors, and it has truly been a process of “taking lessons from the past.” Therefore, I would also like to convey my deep appreciation to our predecessors.
Now, as we begin our next 100 years, the changes of the times have been more intense, rapid, and dynamic than anticipated. I am convinced that now is the time when we need the mettle to decisively take on all kinds of challenges under a banner of “flexibly responding to change,” while diligently gathering information and making preparations on a day-to-day basis.
While there is no end in sight to the various problems and issues in the world, such as geopolitical risks, going forward, based on our Corporate Philosophy, we intend to focus on the areas that we are able to control (quality and quantity), without feeling apprehensive about changes to the external environment, and aim to engage in activities without fear of change based on continuing to “give our all.”
The trading business was our main business when our company was founded, and it remains so today. There are still many less fortunate countries in the world and many people who are disadvantaged. We intend to devote ourselves single-mindedly to our work so that through the trading business we are able to help increase the affluence of people in such countries as much as possible and bring smiles to their faces.
Based on a hands-on approach, we shall aim to carry out management that promotes the health and vitality of our employees, and shall continue to work dedicatedly in order to contribute to the world as much as possible with the motto “working with vigor and passion.” As such, your kind understanding and further support will be greatly appreciated.
